Photo exhibition entitled 'Behind the Lenses of Coastal Children' which takes place from November 27-December 3, 2021 at Fishermen Pier, RW 04, Cilincing Urban Village, Cilincing Sub-district, North Jakarta displays 75 photographs.

It can help coastal children to improve their interest, talents, and realize their dream as journalist

North Jakarta Secretary, Abdul Khalit felt proud and appreciated with photo exhibition featured photos taken by children who are members of the Little Journalist (Jurnalis Cilik).

"Previously they had attended journalism class for four months under guidance of experienced mentors. Hopefully it can help coastal children to improve their interest, talents, and realize their dream as journalist," he said after opening photo exhibition as well as handing out certificates of appreciation to the participants, Saturday (11/27).

According to him, for further guidance, urban village and sub-district heads will cooperate with non-governmental and private institutions including education and environmental activists as well as involvement of Jakarta Baznas Bazis to hold more activities in form of competitions and other training.

"Hopefully it will not only done to fill their spare time but can be a means of creating and making achievements," he added.

North Jakarta Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Sub-agency Head, Linda Harmaini mentioned, this activity was very good for nurturing children, introducing them to the world of journalism as developing new interest and talents outside of school.

"It is very good for the development of child's talent and interest," she mentioned.

Meanwhile, the Little Journalist Class Initiator, Syamsudin Ilyas explained, the Little Journalist Class was initiated in 2018. Total 25 participants in this photo exhibition became the fourth batch of the Little Journalist.

"By displaying their photos in this exhibition, we want to educate children to expand knowledge in the community about the importance of photojournalism and citizen journalism that can create positive impact on regional development," he conveyed.

For information, this photo exhibition is also held with other activities such as making murals on sea barrier by mural artists, fashion show, and coast cleaning activity.
